This “View of New York from Brooklyn Heights” is a 20th-century print of a 19th-century lithograph by Nathaniel Currier (American, 1813 – 1888) after a drawing by Fanny Palmer (English, 1812 – 1876). The original was published by Currier. This print is a “full color reproduction by Donald Art Co., Inc., NY.” (in business between the early 1940s to the early 1980s) . Below the title are listed the landmarks that can be seen across the water: Revenue Office & Lighthouse Battery; Bedlow’s Island; Delmonico’s Broadway; Exchange; Trinity Church; Post Office; Fulton Ferry; St. Paul’s; United States Hotel; North Dutch Church; Astor House; Brick Church; St. George’s Chapel; Peck Slip; French’s Hotel; and City Hall.  A ship named “C. Vanderbilt” is seen in the mid-distance on the left. The colors are bright–the print was likely made from a hand-colored original. The print is in very good preowned vintage condition–I estimate it dates from the 1950s. It measures 11″ x 14″ and it’s ready for framing.
