This vintage trophy-style urn vase with removable lid started its life as a lamp in the first half of the 20th century. All the parts are original, except for the vintage brass finial and new felt bottom. The metal appears to be pewter, although even without taking the base into consideration, it’s very heavy–8 lbs. 6 oz. total weight. The base is made from black Italian marble (stamped) with beautiful veining.  The handles consist of two minimalist stylized eagle heads with applied brass eyes and rings, reminiscent of Italian Futurism and Russian Constructivism, art movements of the early 20th century. Overall measurements are 17″ tall x 8.25″ at widest point x 6″ square at the base. Does not hold water. Great patina; good used vintage condition with some spots, color variations and evidence of a repair at the base of the metal section and one of the eagles’ heads–see photos. This is a unique statement piece, perfect for shelf or mantel styling.
