Vintage Haven was established in 2020 as an outlet to share my vintage treasures with others. I have always gravitated towards antiques for as long as I can remember. My great-grandmother on my mom’s side and my great-great-aunt on my dad’s side both had homes filled with little antique trinkets, blankets, housewares, furniture, you name it. I just remember the excitement in going to visit these family members. Their collections were so magical.
Back then, I dreamt of owning my very own Victorian, filled to the brim with antique dark wood toned furniture, floral prints, and all the intricate, ornate furnishings. Styles changed over time, and I have grown to appreciate the simpler side of older homes. My husband and I purchased our 1903 home in a historic town in New Jersey in 2014. At first, I was purchasing all new items to fill our home, but it was not practical at that stage in our lives. We started perusing estate sales, garage sales, and thrift stores. This was when my true collection and style blossomed.
I learned along the way that the most fascinating part of older items is their history and what makes them “special”. I try to think of how the item was used and how much it must have meant to its previous owner(s) to have made it this far.
