Vintage reproduction of a 1650 rapier sword with figural pommel and foliate decor on the blade. The sword has a scallop shell guard on the right side; the left side originally had a similar but smaller guard with pierced design; it’s missing. The pommel is embossed with a figural design which appears to be of a woman from antiquity carrying a jug on one shoulder. The blade is made of steel and marked “Italy.” The fuller (grooved area on the blade) extends 12″ and features a floral design, as mentioned. Overall length is 39.75″; blade length: 32.25″. The sword is in overall good vintage condition with the aforementioned missing portion of the guard and some staining on the blade. The design on the pommel is worn. No scabbard. Priced accordingly. This piece likely dates from the mid-1900s and will make a striking display in a library or masculine den. It’s certainly a conversation piece.
