This beautiful glass decanter is a product of Cambridge Glass Co, founded in 1873. The words “Nearcut” can be found alongside the curved handle pressed into the glass, this trademark is congruent with the age of the product (circa 1904). This is a blown piece of glass with a rough pontil to the bottom surface. I was not able to find any true cracks or chips on the bottle, but there is some mild surface scratching/crackle to the handle and neck as well as areas of cloudiness from age. The stopper is slightly chipped at the bottom but does not prevent fit/seal. This piece has been water tested to ensure functionality. This unique, stunning decanter is sure to elevate your drinking experience and impress guests whether it is used for alcohol storage or simply as a statement barware display piece. Please note the dimensions of the product below, it is quite large and heavy!
Glass decanters became a widespread product, found in England during the 18th century. Though originally intended for wine, decanters can be used to store and serve a variety of cordials and liquors. As decanters became more well renown they became increasingly associated with status and the upper class.
