Vintage print of a lithograph of John James Audubon’s “Pteromys Voluella / Common Flying Squirrel.” It depicts two males, two females and a young specimen doing what squirrels do on a tree. It’s identified as “drawn from nature,” originally “lithographed, printed and colored by J. T. Bowen, Philadelphia, 1843.” The print’s colors are vibrant, and the details are superb. Overall measurements are 11.5″ x 15″. On magnification, a dot pattern is visible. I obtained this print from an estate and estimate it to date from the 1950s to the 1970s.
