Four-piece vintage desk set made of wood with applied floral embellishments. Finished in a saffron color, the edges are trimmed with a dainty egg-and-dart motif; the applied flower swags include pink, green and blue. The set consists of a letter sorter with two slots, a rocker ink blotter, a double inkwell stand with pen slots, and a complete perpetual calendar. I’m also including a copy of La Mode Illustrée from 1913 and a letter written in French dated May 1890, in which the writer reminds the recipient about their promise to a third party to attend the Carmaux fair later that month. MEASUREMENTS:
Letter organizer, two slots: 5 5/8″ tall x 6 7/8″ wide x 2 7/8″ deep; good vintage to antique condition with age-appropriate wear; felt is original and soiled; we’re including some new felt should buyer with to replace.
Perpetual calendar: 4.5″ tall x 5.25″ wide x 2 3/8″ deep; all month cards are present; good vintage to antique condition with age-appropriate wear; see above re. felt.
Double inkwell stand: 7.5″ wide x 5 1/8″ deep; about 3 3/8″ tall with inkwells in place; good vintage to antique condition with age-appropriate wear; scuffs and scratches, some missing paint; base is warped–I’ve added a felt bumper to stabilize; ink bottles, corks on lids (loose) and felt in ink slots not original.
Rocker ink blotter: 4.25″ long x 2.5″ deep x 2″ tall; good vintage to antique condition with age-appropriate wear; knob unscrews for replacement of blotting paper.
La Mode Illustrée: 15.5″ x 11″; good antique condition with age-appropriate wear; “spine” is torn; includes full-size sewing and embroidery patterns.
CONDITION: Excellent preowned vintage condition; clean, with working music box.
