Vintage cedar keepsake box or casket with rose mirror and moody bucolic scene on lid (four people and a dog are visible). The box is carved with a leaf motif on the front; it has four feet with the same carved motif; carved side handles; an ivory-color “clasp” in front; scroll embellishments mimicking gold surrounding the print; and an interior arm to keep the box in the open position when in use. Overall measurements are 10-5/8″ side to side x 7″ front to back (this measurement includes the feet) x 4-1/8″ tall; interior measurements are 10″ x 5.5″. The box is in very good used vintage condition; there’s alligatoring on the lid and loss of silvering on the mirror, both of which add to the vintage authenticity. The “clasp” in front has some hairline fractures at the nail heads, but they’re stable and don’t detract. This is a great piece for shelf styling, keeping small electronics such as phones, chargers, and remotes out of sight, or for storing keepsakes–photos, letters, bits and bobs.
