Art Deco Floor Ashtray or Smoking Stand with Leaping Gazelle

Striking floor ashtray or smoking stand featuring a stylized leaping gazelle handle.  The stand is made of metal and constructed in four sections.  From the stepped round base rises a column with a bulbous lower section topped by a ribbed shaft that connects to the bottom of the ashtray receptacle.  The gazelle is attached to this piece by two hex nuts–will likely be detached for shipping.  It was originally sold with a glass ashtray insert, which is missing and can be easily be replaced with an inexpensive one.  he original color may have been a metallic silver, later repainted a bronze color which had deteriorated.  It has been more recently repainted black and copper, the color combo creating a modern masculine vibe.  This is a great conversation piece for the speakeasy or man cave.  If not to be used as an ashtray, the stand can be repurposed as a side table to hold a dish with your favorite movie-watching snack (see example; dish not included).  See dimensions and condition description below.  

APPROX. DIMENSIONS:   25″ tall to top of gazelle’s head x 10 7/8″ diameter at the base.  The well for the ashtray measures 5.75″ in diameter and tapers towards the center; the flat surface measures 4.25″ in diameter.

CONDITION: Very good used vintage condition with signs evidence of going on 100 years of age.  The metal surface shows some pitting on the base and the body of the gazelle, which has been painted over and doesn’t detract.  The bulbous piece has a dent; again, it doesn’t detract and adds to the vintage character.  See photos.  The base has a very slight wobble which can be adjusted by adding a felt dot on one side.
