Pair of vintage hand-crafted wooden bookends. The architectural shape was achieved by gluing six slabs of hardwood into a block, then turning it on a lathe, and finally slicing it in half down the middle. The person I purchased them from said they were made by a relative in the 1950s. The velvet covering on the bottom is a more recent addition. They have a warm aged patina; preserve the finish by conditioning with orange or lemon oil on a regular basis. There are some minor scuffs, but nothing that detracts; otherwise, in very good used vintage condition. They measure 6.25″ tall x 5.5″ x 2 5/8″ at the base. Total weight is 2 lbs. 6 oz. Use as intended or facing forward for shelf styling.
