Large gesso-on-wood serving tray with rose embellishments, scalloped edges, incised scrolls, and antique finish; lovely colors

Beautiful vintage serving tray, made in Florence, Italy. The round tray has scalloped edges with incised scrolls and rose embellishments in the center and along the rim. In a departure from the more common gilded finish, the craftsman has given this tray an antiqued finish, with low lights and highlights, suggesting a manufacture date in the 1960s to early 1970s, when “antiqued” finishes were all the rage. The cream color is accented with browns both in the crevices and flat surface, adding depth and texture. The central floral medallion is surrounded by an unexpected pop of aqua blue. Marked “Made in Italy, Florence” on the back, along with an old paper store sticker. The tray is very sturdy, with a deep edge. Suitable for a variety of home decor styles. CONDITION: Excellent used, naturally distressed, vintage condition with wear consistent with age: some scuffs and scratches, minor stains, a couple of nicked areas, but nothing that detracts–see photos and zoom.
