Antique Carpathian Elm Burl Wood Writing Box

Step into an era where ink flowed by candlelight with this timeless piece from a quieter time. A period when correspondence was an art, the Victorian era lives on in this exquisite box.

This antique writing box is wrapped in a warm swirl of Carpathian elm burl wood veneer. The piece opens to reveal its inkwell compartment and spaces for letters and pens. The three pale panels were once fitted with blotting papers. The piece also opens up to allow room for more storage, perfect for letters, pressed flowers and supplies. Beautiful engraved initials on the mounting plate of the drop handle.

The writing box is antique and retains traces of a life well lived. There is light wear that tells of years of correspondence. Please see photos for details: some chips in veneer and tear of leather interior near the panels. Lock appears broken and key is absent.

This piece is full of soul and substance and will add a lot of warmth and character to any space. It would look lovely styled in a bookcase with other antiquities.
