Vintage solid brass letter opener by Virginia Metalcrafters featuring a head portrait of a dog, perhaps a wolfhound or collie. It’s marked with the “Betty Lamp” logo first used by Virginia Metalcrafters in 1940. We estimate this piece dates from the last quarter of the 20th century. It measures 10″ long and weighs half a pound. It’s in very good used vintage condition with some color variations; there’s a spot of verdigris tarnish on the top of the dog’s ear and the back side of the blade. See photos.
