This book, originally titled Italienische Reise and published in 1962 as a limited edition of 2500, of which 2,450 were for sale, chronicles German writer and poet Johann Wolfgang Goethe’s Italian Journey of 1786-1788. It’s a fascinating glimpse into Italy through the eyes of an 18th century traveler. Details:

Condition: Very good vintage condition (not an official book rating, but simply a visual observation). The book’s edges (both the cloth cover and pages) have yellowed over time; the stitched spine is tight; there are no markings, other than a handwritten dedication on the inside front cover; the dust cover is tattered.
I’m currently reading a paperback copy and can’t put it down. Great gift for the travel enthusiast, history buff, and lover of all things Italian. Tassel not included.
