Stunning pair of vintage turned wood candleholders with hand-carved geometric designs, polychrome gilded finish, plaster skim coat, round base, fluted column, and Corinthian-style capital with brass sconce inserts. As can be seen in the photos, three of the sections have a stippled surface; a gilded finish has been applied to the base, column and sconce. Colors are vibrant red, green and blue. The bottoms are lined in gray felt. We have been unable to find any similar candleholders and, based on the polychrome-gilded treatment and hand-carved designs, they may be French, Italian, or perhaps even Middle Eastern. The overall appearance certainly fits several possible places of origin. They are statement pieces and will add elegance and interest to any style interior. APPROX. DIMENSIONS: 15.5″ tall – bases aren’t perfectly round, measuring approx. 7.25″ x 7″
CONDITION: Excellent used vintage condition with naturally distressed areas where the plaster skim coat shows through; color variations on the gilding; dark patina on the brass inserts. Felt coverings show their age.
