Vintage mid-century alabaster cigarette box, originally part of a four-piece smoking set which consisted of the box, lighter and two ashtrays. This listing is for the box–perfect for jewelry or to make into a candle. We have the two ashtrays which are damaged and are being included free of charge; one has a nick on one corner and an internal fissure, and the other one has a repair. Both are perfectly usable as match keepers or ring or soap dishes (the flaws are visible mostly when held up to the light–see last image). The stone is a beautiful creamy color with slight color variations and some veining on the box’s lid. All the pieces were hand carved in Italy (they originally had a foil label) with a very mid-century design–an almost brutalist jagged pattern around the perimeter of all the pieces. One of the ashtrays and the box are marked on the underside with a carved alpha-numeric code: 107L04IX164. The box has heavy brass fittings with a lovely beaded design and is in very good used vintage condition. Great shelf-styling piece.
