Stunning ornate overdoor or overmantel frieze or pediment. This very large estate piece appears to have been constructed from a composite material made to look like carved wood; it features a winged cherub and shell motif in the center, flanked by scrolls and flowers set on varying planes, which adds dimension and interest. It’s treated with a gilded finish. Place it above a door, over the mantel, on a gallery wall, or use as a crown on a bookshelf or armoire. Lots of possibilities. There’s a slot in back for hanging, although a different type of hanger can be added. The piece is fairly lightweight for its size. See below for measurements and condition.
