Beautiful vintage brass box with hinged lid, oval in shape, and engraved with the initials “DAM.” The bottom section was constructed from a single sheet of brass seamed on the inside with an invisible seam. The interior of the rim was lined with a single strip of brass, also seamed invisibly, to create the recessed edge for the lid to fit on. The lid aligns properly and fits snugly on the bottom section of the box. Both the box and lid are marked with the designation “S 91.” The box measures 7 7/8″ side to side x 6″ front to back x 3 7/8″ top to bottom and holds 40 oz. of liquid to within about 7/8″ of the rim. It is watertight and would make an amazing candle.  The box has been given a light cleaning and has a lovely warm uneven patina; it can be polished to a uniform high shine if that look is preferred; if left unpolished, it will darken once again over time. Excellent preowned vintage condition. Shipping included for street addresses within contiguous United States.
