Antique Red and Green Books with Gold Lettering for Festive Decor Set of Three

The beauty of these antique books lies in their gold-embellished spines, and their combined red and green colors create  a festive holiday accent for mantel or bookshelf.  All three books have gilded top edges, measure approx. 7.5″ x 5.25″ x 1.5″, give or take.  They show shelf wear throughout, as well as separation of some of the covers from the stitched binding and crinkling and scuffing of the red covers, all consistent with age and prior use–see photos.  The books are:

1. RED: Volumes 1 and 2 of the novel Wandering Jew by Eugene Sue (French, 1804 – 1857, originally published in 1844 by William L. Allison Co., reprinted from the original Chapman and Hall Edition.  Red textured paper hard covers.  This is the story of the descendants of a persecuted Huguenot whose fortune had been entrusted to a Jewish banker for 150 years.  No copyright date, but based on research, I believe this is the 1900 edition.
2. GREEN: The Sketch-Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent., commonly referred to as The Sketch Book, by Washington Irving (American, 1783 – 1859).  Green marbled and solid green pebbled paper hard covers.  This is a collection of 34 essays and short stories published serially throughout 1819 and 1820.  This book, a revised edition, was published in 1848, based on the Preface date.

Great addition to a collection of of antique books.
