Primitive Round Wooden Bowl with Lots of Character for Fruit or Display of Found Objects

Fantastic primitive dough bowl with authentic aged patina and scarring. The wood appears to be maple; the shape is slightly out of round (we think from wear–notice that the rim on the side a right-handed person would hold with the left hand is narrower than the rest and the wall of the bowl in that same area is very worn and thinner). The interior shows lots of scars from the use of a steel dough cutter. The bottom may have been flat at one time, but it’s been basically rounded from use. The bowl may be from Munising, Michigan (made between 1911 and 1955), although those bowls are usually marked. This one may have had a mark at one time, but it’s worn off. See dimensions and condition description below. Â
DIMENSIONS:Â Â 11.25″ x 10 5/8″ at the rim (slightly off round) x 3″ tall
CONDITION: Excellent used vintage to antique condition. We have cleaned the bowl and conditioned it with food grade mineral oil. As mentioned, one side of the rim and corresponding wall are thinner than the rest, we think from use over the decades, and the interior is heavily scarred from the use of a steel dough cutter. The level of wear suggests this is a very old piece; our best estimate is that it dates from the first quarter of the 20th century.
