Vintage hand painted and lacquered keepsake box made from aromatic linaloe wood in Olinalá, Mexico (history below). Lovely floral and geometric designs on a black background, reminiscent of the Northern European rosemaling technique; domed top; distressed finish; opens flat. Traditionally, these boxes are unpainted inside in order to preserve the natural aroma of the wood; this box has been painted inside. It measures 7.75″ long x 4-3/8″ tall x 4.5″ deep. Sturdy with very distressed/aged finish.

I greatly appreciate the attention and extra care when packaging up the items. How sad it would be to purchase an antique that has survived multiple generations, only to be destroyed by USPS!
