Gorgeous black and white German steel engraving from the mid 1800s of Frankfort on the Main (river) showing landmarks. The detail on this is amazing and so fun to see the little statues and buildings surrounding the main picture. This was purchased at an estate sale and has two mats on top, a cream-colored textured paper on the inside and a caramel-colored mat board on the outer. Mounting board has handwritten description and date of 1820 – 1860. Not sure if this is the date of the various landmarks and buildings or a date range for publication. The print itself measures 5.75 x 8 inches. With the mats, it is 10 x 12 inches, so it could easily be popped into a frame.
