Collection of three French literature textbooks from 1966 covering the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, entitled Collection Littéraire by Lagarde & Michard, printed in France. All are hardback books, include dozens of illustrations, are comprehensive [20th century through early 1960s], fully documented, and measure 8.5″ x 6″.
18th century: 416 pgs., 59 color and B&W plates. Reference table places elements such as philosophy, authors, works, and arts within the context of historical events. 1-1/8″ thick.
19th century: 576 pgs., 71 color and B&W plates. Reference table places elements such as authors, poetry, novels, theatre, etc., within the context of historical events. 1-3/8″ thick.
20th century: 640 pgs., 137 color and B&W plates. Same reference table as 19th century, up to the early 1960s. 1-5/8″ thick.
Very good used vintage condition with some stains/discoloration along the top fore edges.
Great gift for the reader of French literature in the original language within a historical context.
