Vintage unsigned engraving featuring a view of Rydal Lake, Westmoreland. Margin notes read: “London, J. & F. Harwood, 26. Fenchurch Street” [on the left] and “Sept 16th 1842″ [on the right] (history below). Views of this location have been produced by several artists from various perspectives. The print offered here likely dates from the mid-1900s and is framed under glass within a double mat (white and black), in a newer frame with new dust cover. Overall measurements 11-3/8″ x 9-7/8″; image: 6.25″ x 4.75”. Very good preowned vintage condition with light yellowing along the margins. Ready to hang. Easel not included.

The company specialized in historical engravings and prints of artistic views of specific locations, published around 1840 – 1842. These were often sold as single prints or compiled into bound collections under various titles, such as “Harwood’s Scenery of Great Britain.” The company also produced decorative notepaper with engraved views at the top, a popular item in the Victorian era.
