Wood-Lined Etched Brass Chinoiserie Box for Jewelry Storage or Eclectic Decor

Vintage etched brass wood-lined box with hinged lid and ornate hasp. The box was originally a humidor for storage of cigars and cigarettes; today it can be used simply as decor, or for storage of trinkets, keepsakes or costume jewelry. The lid showcases three Chinese “shòu” symbols for longevity. The interior of the lid is missing the wood lining. A previous owner added four felt pads to the bottom, which can be removed, if so desired. The box is lacquered and shows some drips original to the box. The bottom was stamped “Made in China” from the inside before the wood was applied. It’s read from right to left and the word “China” is misspelled: “CIHNA”–see last image. APPROX. DIMENSIONS: 6 15/16″ side to side x 4 3/16″ front to back x 2 7/16″ top to bottom
CONDITION: The box has a good bit of age but is in good vintage condition, with the aforementioned missing lining on the lid and some lacquer drips. There’s a small (3/16″) split on the front right corner of the lid (see last image), but it doesn’t detract. Some minor spots/discoloration consistent with age.
