Unique candlestick holders with porcelain and lace inserts on a solid brass base

Beautiful pair of vintage candleholders with a unique design. The solid brass base is accented by a porcelain insert painted with an abstract banner-like floral design with gold trim placed on a bed of lace. These pieces are encased in a sheet of clear celluloid. The socket has an acanthus leaf motif on the lower part and a geometric design around the top. This portion appears to be made from a different type of metal treated with a gold finish. The base has a delicate incised design of dots and scrolls and three feet with felt pads provide height.  The underside is lined with a textured tan-colored material. Delicate and very feminine. Based on our research, we believe these to be English and to date from the 1940s to the 1960s. Props not included. See dimensions and condition description below. Â

CONDITION: Excellent preowned vintage condition. Very clean; they appear to have never been used. There are a few nicks on the edges of the sockets where a silver-color metal is showing through. This doesn’t detract but can be easily addressed with a touch of Rub ‘n Buff, if so desired.
