Vintage Benedict NY brooch of angel playing the accordion and two unmarked cherub brooches on a rose-silk-lined gold frame in the shape of a heart – FREE SHIPPING

Beautiful gilded heart-shaped frame with rose silk lining showcasing three tiny brooches: the larger one is a gold-color angel with jeweled wings playing the accordion and marked “Benedikt NY” (see history below); the two smaller ones are mirror image cherubs made of the same material, unmarked. All three brooches have security clasps. This piece was hand crafted by its previous owner, having collected the brooches, created the silk-lined backdrop, and mounted the brooches on it. Hanging hook on the back. This is a dainty piece that would look lovely on a dresser among other special keepsakes. Overall measurements are approx. 4.75″ long x 4″ across. The larger brooch measures 1.75″ long and the smaller ones 1″ long. Beautiful preowned vintage condition.
HISTORY (from online sources): New York based jeweler Howard Benedikt made costume jewelry marked Benedikt in the period of 1955 – 1963.  Located at 389 5th Avenue, one of the most fashionable streets of New York, Benedikt jewelry company produced high quality decorations. Meanwhile, collectors of vintage costume jewelry find Benedikt designs and quality similar to Hattie Carnegie’s. Indeed, the original design of Benedikt NY works inspired many of Howard Benedikt’s colleagues, in particular, well-known designer Kenneth Jay Lane, who drew ideas for his collections from Benedikt’s jewelry.  And less famous bijou masters didn’t hesitate to copy the works of the brand; for example, the Maltese cross of incredible beauty in various styles and color combinations, which was the most famous and iconic design by Howard Benedikt.
