These vintage olive jars were used to preserve olives & their fine oils and were a staple in European kitchens as olives & olive oil are frequently used ingredients in Mediterranean cooking. They were handmade from terracotta and finished with a glaze on the rim. Due to the handmade nature of these jars, the handprints of the original artisans are sometimes visible as glaze prints on the side of the jar.
