[Evocative Scenes Collection] Wisdom

Art is a means of capturing and expressing emotion.
And sometimes the artist’s brushstrokes are so skilled and intentional that the art piece becomes like a poignant piece of poetry frozen in time.

This piece that we titled “Wisdom” evokes feelings that can only be felt when in the presence of someone who has been through many seasons in life.

This is an antique early 20th-century Portrait Oil Painting on board, depicting profile of an elderly man with a long white beard. The artist has signed the lower left-hand corner “Bayer,” and there is an inscription on the back that identifies this artist as “Prof F. Bayer.” There is also a German note that says that this painting was passed on through a family and obtained by the previous owner in 1929.

Overall wear to the gilded oak frame commensurate with its age. There is also some professionally in-painted restorations. And a puncture in the lower left corner near the signature.
