Antique Victorian Era Aesthetic Movement Transferware Pitcher Sylvan Pattern by J H Davis Made in England

Beautiful antique transferware pitcher from the late 1880s by J. H. Davis, Hanley, Staffordshire, England.  Aesthetic movement at its best: lavish brown floral motifs showcased within six flat panels, two of which are bordered in blue.  Raised dots separate the two main panels from the others.  Smaller flowers are scattered around the shoulder of the pitcher.  The neck features a raised geometric design with gold highlights.  The squared handle features raised dots along the sides and brown leaves and flowers that are repeated along the rim of the pitcher.  The bottom is marked with the J. H. Davis logo, the “Sylvan” pattern name and the English Registry No. which corresponds to the years 1887 – 1888.  Estate piece in exceptional antique condition with no damage, other than some light wear on the transferred elements.  It measures 6 5/8″ tall, x 3.5″ x 3″ at the base, x about 4.75″ at the widest point of the body.  Holds about 4 cups.  See photos.
