Stunning etching titled “Village de Trécastagni Sur L’Etna” meaning “Village of Trécastagni on Etna”. From the French book Picturesque Voyage or Description of the Kingdom of Naples and Sicily by Jean Claude Richard de Saint-Non. Saint-Non traveled along Italy working alongside famous French painters Jean Honoré and Hubert Robert as well as many other artists to publish a collection of traveling notes and 542 engravings and etchings. Original etchings were printed between 1781-1786 and then re-issued in 1795-1798 as well as in 1829.
I am not certain of the date, but most likely printed during one of the re-issues between 1795-1829.
Framed later in a gold wooden frame with a teal and tan mating.
The frame measures 16 ¾” across and 14” tall. Ready to hang.
