Antique John Ridgway Transferware Rimmed Soup Bowl Blue Persian Sunflower Pattern Ca. 1835

I’ve owned this beautiful rimmed soup bowl since about 1985.  When I acquired it, it was already 150 years old; now, it’s nearing its 200th birthday.  Based on my research, I believe it  was made around 1835 by the John Ridgway Company of Staffordshire, England (which later became part of the Wedgwood Group).  The pattern is “Persian Sunflower” in blue transferware featuring a lovely central floral medallion on white ground and white and blue flowers on a blue background on the rim.  Geometric designs separate the two.  The scalloped rim has a beaded detail (transferred, not raised) all around.  The points separating the scallops have a raised design.  Fabulous addition to a collection of antique English transferware.  See below for measurements and condition.

APPROX. MEASUREMENTS: 10 ¼” diameter

CONDITION: Very good used antique condition; there’s a manufacturing defect on the top side, a small chip on the underside, crazing, and some discoloration on the white areas, all consistent with age and prior use—see photos and use zoom.
