Aesthetic movement plate featuring flowers, leaves and scrolls with 1889 English registry stamp

Lovely brown transferware luncheon plate in the “Tournay” pattern by T & R Boote, made in England (see history below). The plate features a flower-leaf-and-scroll pattern with a central medallion and is fully marked on the back with Boote’s logo and English Registry No. 33645, which corresponds to the year 1889. The plate measures 8.75″ in diameter and is in excellent used antique condition–no chips or cracks. There’s a slightly darker area on the top surface and crazing throughout, which is consistent with age and doesn’t detract. Minor utensil marks.
HISTORY (from online sources): The original business was founded in 1842 by Thomas Latham Boote and Richard Boote in Burslem. In 1865, the company started to produce unglazed pavement tiles, and in the late 1880s it ceased production of decorated wares and concentrated on white ironstone for the American market. By 1906, production was focused once again on the manufacture of tiles, and in 1963 the company was taken over by Richards Tiles.

I greatly appreciate the attention and extra care when packaging up the items. How sad it would be to purchase an antique that has survived multiple generations, only to be destroyed by USPS!
