Designer Keepers- Mandy Eno

November 11, 2022

There are some homes that just speak to you! Something about the effortless styling but with such intentional details. You know the Nancy Meyers movies that you’re not quite sure what swoops you in about it but it’s something about how the homes are all curated so beautiful with such style and elegance. Again that effortless feel but with such true beauty with a collected over time vibe. Well, that is exactly what my friend Mandy Eno’s home is like. She creates such beauty, cozy, and a collected feel to her home her upstate NY home.

I interviewed Mandy for her take on styling and vintage so grab your coffee and dive into the beauty and ideas that you can implement in your home.

Tell us about you, your personal design style, and your home

My name is Mandy Eno. I’m a wife and a mom of two, or four if you count my dogs. My husband, Chad, was my high school sweetheart and together we have a daughter, Ava (13) and a son, Mason (12). We also have two dogs, a 5 year old Labrador named River and a 4 month old Golden Retriever named Tobey. We live in upstate NY in a historic farmhouse from 1832. Design has always been a part of my life. I come from a very artistic family full of professional photographers, stylists and interior designers. We traveled a lot during my childhood and although I was born and raised in Miami, much of my childhood was spent in England. Both of which have played a pivotal role in my design style. Over the years, I  have found that timelessness is paramount to me. I want my home to feel collected and as if it’s evolved over time. My style is very relaxed, lived-in, cozy and has elements of both English and coastal design styles.  I enjoy mixing old with new, and rustic with modern. At the end of the day your home should be a reflection of you and all the things that you love.

What is your favorite piece in your home?

I think my favorite piece in my home is a set of antique English apothecary drawers that once belonged to my parents. I’ve loved them ever since I was a child.  My mom recently gave them to me and I will treasure them forever.

Why do you love decorating with vintage and is there something that you collect?

I love decorating with vintage pieces because they add an element of history and character to a room. Each piece has a story to tell. I collect several things, but my favorites are books and art. I don’t think my collection of either will ever be complete.

What is the best advice you can give to others to achieve the same look?

I always begin with a neutral palette. From there I add layered rugs, slipcovered furniture, a gallery wall and a mixture of rustic antiques and modern elements. If you are unsure how to blend old with new, a good rule of thumb is to look for antiques with clean lines. This will help pull the room together and feel more cohesive.

Is there anything you are currently on the hunt for, for your home?

I’m always on the hunt for a kitchen table to replace my island. As much as I love our island, I’ve always wanted a long table in the middle of my kitchen.
